Which type of insulation should go in my attic?
It depends on the attic. Blown-in loose-fill is the simple way to top up an existing floor. Open-cell foam runs about R-3.6 per inch and closed-cell about R-6, and both seal air leaks. Fiberglass batts, at about R-2.9 to R-3.8 per inch, suit open framing.
I rent. Can I get help with attic insulation?
Possibly. The city's Weatherization Assistance Program serves income-qualified renters as well as owners, and attic insulation is on its list. It's free if you qualify. You apply through the city, and the program is separate from any job we quote.
What should I do before you come out?
Find your attic hatch and clear a path to it. Have a recent power bill handy so we can see your utility. If you know your home's build year, tell us; age hints at what we'll find.
Do you serve every part of the city?
Yes. We take attic jobs in all 15 urban villages, from Maryvale and Encanto to Camelback East, Deer Valley, Desert View and Ahwatukee Foothills. Our office is in Estrella Village.
Do you insulate new homes and commercial buildings too?
Yes. Builders get batts in walls and ceilings, blown-in or foam in the attic, and a detailed bid within 48 hours of sending plans. For commercial spaces, see our commercial insulation page.
Is there an energy code for attic insulation here?
Arizona has no statewide energy code. Instead, each city picks an edition of the IECC and may tweak it, Phoenix included. New work follows the edition the city enforces. For an existing attic, we use ENERGY STAR's zone 2 guidance as the target.
